Ask a 15 year old in a inner city setting do they know anything about credit. Not a credit card but establishing credit. Nine times out of ten the average 15 year old being raised in a inner city area will not know. Then ask their parent or "parents". The point that I'm trying to make is what our society (middle class black americans) know about maintaining and being successful in the world we live in today. Yes, it is easy to say somebody has to be poor or everyone can't be wealthy. But look at it from an educational stand point. The younger generation is looked down upon due to their lack of knowledge and education. But who is more to blame then the parents. If their is no one telling you the difference between good and bad what makes you do right? If no one breaks down why you should being doing certain things but will tell you do so how can you expect a young mind to listen. We live in a world that's divided by race,gender,money,knowledge & education. Times have changed drastically in one sense but is the same in another. No, we aren't no longer bound together by chains but we are still slaves mentally. Take a walk to your nearest Chinese store and just listen to the various conversations that you may hear. Then take a walk to the nearest papi store or suburban chinese store...."wait" there aren't any. Life is all about structure if you can get up at 12am and leave your house to get something from a store what would be your reason in keeping your house stocked with groceries? Or making home cooked meals? The separation is our mindsets the average white american household have a set dinner time or family time so to speak. In black america the majority of the youth raise themselves. Missing out on the details in life that's instilled from parenting. What happened to the structure and the backbone (middle class and poor black americans ) had back in the 50's & 60's. I guess everything Dr. King & Malcolm X (not to mention many others) died for nothing. Or did they? Where are our role models? Many would answer "Obama" and after that the room would go silent. Some other's would mention people like Jay-Z who has achieved great wealth but came from nothing. So 20 years from now what will the history books read? >> COMMENTS WANTED!
