Abstract voices was founded in December, 2006 at Widener University by a student named Taikeya Johnson. Abstract Voices stemmed from her constant battle of being shy throughout her teen years.
In college, she continued to write her poetry, and it was then, when she discovered her voice. Her love, and talent was "Poetry", and it lead her to the conclusion that if she "learned to take action over her voice, than she would learn how to take action of her life.
Upon finding her voice, she realized that, discovering her voice is the key to life. Taikeya decided that she wanted to help other students like herself, overcome the barrier that kept her from her talent.

Abstract voices is a Poetry group that uses words to express themselves through voice and sometimes movement. The majority of our members are Poets but we do have a couple singers and rappers. Abstract Voices members has shared the stage with the "Twin Poets(Def Poetry Jam)", "Sidney Jacobs" and "Ms.Wise". For two years, "The Twin Poets" were the Artist developers for Abstract Voices performers.
